All the clichés are there! The village nestled on its hillock and its old shady streets. The olive trees as far as the eye can see, the scent of lavender and aromatic herbs. Let's make things clear right away: there are no mirabelle plums in Mirabel, but the lilting name of this beautiful commune comes from the Latin mirabilia which means "admirable things". The Romans named the capital of the Vocontian tribe of Gaudenses. This fortified town, which has retained some of its ramparts, is home to a feudal castle that was annexed by the Dauphins. Among the heritage gems: the 13th century fountain and the church of Saint-Julien and Saint-Victor.
