Dare we say it: it's Manthes la jolie! This commune of just under 700 inhabitants is not lacking in charm. It is best known for its priory, founded in the 11th century by the Benedictines of the Order of Cluny and renovated in 2006. Situated on a hill, it is promoted by the Amis du Prieuré association, created in 1983, which looks after this beautiful monument and organizes exhibitions, conferences and cultural events. Other attractions include the park with its Manthes wash-house and the lake, where a former textile mill and a beautiful paddle wheel still stand. Also worth seeing is the 17th-century château, site of the Sources fish farm.
