Châtillon has kept an economic and cultural link with its mountainous hinterland. This wild mountain, today home to transhumants, lumberjacks and hikers, was once home to bears and wolves. The wolves have returned! There are two seasons in Châtillon. Summer sees the arrival of tourists, but the rest of the year Châtillon is empty and becomes very quiet. In addition to tourism and viticulture dedicated to the clairette de Die and AOC wines of Châtillon-en-Diois, arboriculture contributes to the economic life. Châtillon-en-Diois is one of the botanical villages of the Drôme (climbing plants and fountains).
