The commune of Beaumont-Monteux has 1,299 inhabitants. During the feudal period, for 400 years, the village was part of the barony of Clérieu. In those ancient times, around 1202, the Hospitallers were sheltered by the commandery of Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem called the Knights of Malta. This commandery disappeared after the capricious waters of the Isère river devastated the place. The same fate befell the inhabitants during the flood in 1778 after which only ruins remained. But the survivors rebuilt, in the same traces of the old buildings, the village that we discover today.
