Called in Gallo-Roman times "Vallis Vinaria" because of the many vineyards around, the village of Valvignères produces a famous wine which is the subject of a flourishing trade. There are no Roman remains, but there are beautiful medieval remains: four towers, ramparts and two well-preserved gates. The village is not lacking in attractions: a mild climate, splendid landscapes, a cooperative cellar, a network of hiking trails, charming hotels and restaurants for a taste of the Ardèche and even a very nice local bistro. Come at the time of the lavender flowering which adds to the charm of the village and its surroundings.
