Located in the Upper Cévennes of the Ardèche, Thueyts is home to 1,500 inhabitants. The village lies on a basaltic platform known as "la Chaussée des Géants". This is one of the highest basaltic flows in Europe, reaching 80 meters in places, and offers a beautiful view over the valley. As well as walks to the Gravenne-de-Thueyts volcano, the King's Ladders and the Devil's Bridge, Thueyts is also famous for its via ferrata with ladders in the rock and the Château de Blou. The "Ardèche d'autrefois" (Ardèche of yesteryear) house, set in a 13th-century residence, is an eco-museum featuring over a thousand antique objects.
