The geographical situation of this chief town with its hamlets is strategically placed near the Thorrenson gorges on the Annonay plateau. This probably explains why the population has doubled since 1980 in this rural area where agriculture is very present. The location of Thorrenc is quite picturesque, almost wild, and the vegetation, very present, is highly appreciated in summer for the coolness that emerges. All the ingredients of a village can be found here: square, church, town hall, old buildings, castle. To the west, the viaduct, a remnant of an old railway activity, gives a certain tourist cachet.
