At the confluence of the Eyrieux and the Glueyre, coarse waters of Orsanne, Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut is dominated by the ruins of the castle of Montagut. The village is located between Les Ollières sur Eyrieux to the east, Saint-Michel-de-Chabrillanoux to the north, Pranles to the south and Saint-Pierreville to the west. The spectacle of the rivers surveyed here and there of some large rock blocks is of the best effect while the austere beauty of the valleys of Eyrieux and Glueyre takes an increasingly striking relief. The known personality in connection with the village was Emile Victor Giraud (12/06/1968-19/12/1946), French Corps of Army Corps, in the First World War, many decorated.
