Saint-Genest is a small village in central France, in the Allier département, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Surrounded by the communes of Lignerolles, Sainte-Thérence, Terjat, Villebret and Arpheuilles-Saint-Priest, the village has around 400 inhabitants and covers an area of 15.2 km², making it a sparsely populated commune. Saint-Genest is located 9 km southwest of Montluçon, the largest town in the area. The village is also close to the Gorges du Cher. The commune offers its inhabitants the advantages of rural living, with its calm and natural surroundings. Saint-Genest's main asset is its many footpaths, which are ideal for hiking in all its forms. These paths also provide access to sports facilities such as rock-climbing crags, as well as leisure activities such as angling. The commune of Saint-Genest is part of the Montluçon-Communauté.
