On the edge of the Ardèche gorges, set on its limestone plateau, Saint-Remèze is a land of vines and lavender, lively in summer, but peaceful in winter. The commune is home to the Lavender Museum and the House of the Nature Reserve located at the entrance to the Madeleine cave and around the area there are many interesting sites to discover. From the House of the reserve, several marked hiking trails start, including the GR which runs along the gorges overlooking the Ardèche and crossing the remains of old charcoal kilns, orchids and aromatic plants. Opposite, in the cliff, nest couples of birds of prey.
