It is one of the villages of character in the Ardèche. But it was not always so. The old medieval village was in ruins when the association of the Friends of Saint-Montan decided to restore it in the 1970s. A 35 year project! Saint Montan has three churches: Saint-André-de-Mitroys, a Romanesque church from the 12th century; Samsamonta, an old parish church made up of the addition of a 12th century chapel and a larger church remodeled; and finally, the church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, in the center of the village, the most recent, dating from the 19th century.
