Saint-Bonnet -Tronçais is located at the crossroads of the tracks linking Bourges to Lyon and Drevant in Bourbon, the commune has been named after 1893, formerly known as Saint-Bonnet-le-Desert. The most important historical fact for this commune occurred in 1788, when Nicolas Rambourg, a master of Lorraine, obtained from government a location and a lease to create wood forges. It is a momentous event for the region's metallurgical industry and of course for the economic life of Saint-Bonnet and its surroundings. Today, the municipality, located in the heart of the forest of Tronçais, develops a major tourist activity.
