This friendly village in the Ardèche High Cevennes is located at the foot of the Chavade pass (Atlantic/Mediterranean watershed), 10km from the source of the Ardèche and at an altitude of 600m. Nestled in a steep valley, between the Rock of Abraham and the Rock of Chaumiène, it offers a privileged location for hiking enthusiasts. Between the Ardèche plateau and the tourist sites of the lower Ardèche, Mayres runs alongside the Ardèche river which carves out superb natural swimming spots.
