Between the Cevennes and the Mediterranean scrubland, this perched village is particularly attractive on Saturday, market day. At the crossroads, Les Vans saw an influx of utopian city dwellers in the 1970s who came to raise goats in the mountains. We owe their heirs delicious goat cheese. Mixed with farmers of Ardèche origin, they animate a colourful, joyful market, often organic and full of flavour. Les Vans has preserved some beautiful old buildings - see the 15th century Grangousier house - which can be discovered through a historical trail set up by the commune (leaflet at the tourist office).
