Opposite Montélimar, on the other side of the Rhône, Le Teil stands out because of the presence of the Lafarge cement factories which powder the surrounding hillsides with white. At the crossroads of Valerian's road along the Rhône and Antonin the Pious's road linking Alba-la-Romaine, Le Teil is an ancestral place of passage. You will not miss the small church of Mélas whose oldest parts date from the 10th century. Installed at the top of the hill, the village moved after the destruction of its castle by Richelieu in 1634 near the Rhone which passed much more to the west than today! We still keep the memory of the bargemen of the big river
