From the N102, the village appears with its elegant bell tower, its tiled roofs and the sumptuous silhouette of its convent. Neolithic vestiges testify to a very ancient human presence. From the southern oppidum you can see a magnificent view of the Aubenas plain. The fame of Lavilledieu and its name come from the Benedictine monastery originally built in the 11th century in the hamlet of Bayssac, before moving to the heart of the village and prospering there until the middle of the 17th century. The remains of the fortified enclosure of Lavilledieu also remain, today a peaceful and pleasant little town.
