On the left bank of the Saône and in the plain of the Chalaronne, its geographical situation has allowed Saint-Didier-de-Chalaronne to attract people for a very long time. Indeed, it was here in 608 that the archbishop of Vienne - Saint Didier - was assassinated, giving his name to the town and to the Romanesque church, dating from the 11th century, in the centre of the town. A dynamic town, a town in bloom, Saint-Didier is notably turned towards water with the Living Museum of the Aquatic Plant and its 15,000m2 park containing plants and animals. Every Friday, a pleasant market of local producers is held under the Chamerat hall.
