This village was built on the front moraine of the former lagoon of Isère which dominates the Bièvre and Liers plains, offering a wide view of the Massifs and Vercors mountains, or even Mont Blanc in clear Weather. Faramans is appointed in an act of exchange dating back to 997 between the canons of Saint-Appolinaire and the canons of Saint-Maurice. His name may come from the Burgondes who called their heads of Family Faramanni.
