The fortress of Bouligneux is a feudal residence that has been passed down from generation to generation since 1306. During the Revolution, it was one of the few castles not to have been destroyed. If its towers, a feudal symbol, were cut down to building height, the fortifications, the moat and the superb main courtyard remained unchanged. As well as the interior of the residence which remained uninhabited for a long time. The castle has remained intact and is listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments. The Count of Villeneuve Esclapon and his family maintain this superb fortress standing in the middle of a pond covered with water lilies and irises.
