At the foot of a foothill of the Bugist Jura, bordered by the Ain, the village of Ambronay was built around its abbey founded by Saint Barnard, an officer of Charlemagne's court. A superb place to visit which hosts the Centre Culturel de Rencontre, a place where baroque music is combined with the present, notably during the famous Ambronay Festival in September. In the village, in addition to the magnificent abbey and its cloister, you can discover Mémoires d'Autrefois. Enthusiasts present an exhibition of objects from the life of yesteryear. Tools and know-how from the past to go back in time. Beautiful walks to be made from Ambronay through the woods.
