It is beautiful and peaceful this small village on its rocky spur. It overlooks the Sorgue valley and plunges into a magnificent setting of olive trees. First under the jurisdiction of the Counts of Toulouse until the 13th century, it followed the fate of the papal enclave until the French Revolution. Its cobbled streets cross beautiful fountains, the remains of the very well preserved ramparts, beautiful old houses and the 12th century keep of the ancient castrum of Salmana. The castle can be visited by reservation. Built in the 12th century, Baudet de Sade transformed it into a real fortress in the middle of the 15th century, with many hidden passages.
