Built on a promontory, this round fortified village turns its back on Mont Ventoux. In the 12th century, the village was a dependency of the principality of Orange, then it was a property of the Templars. From the 15th century, the fief was divided between several lay lords. In 1573, the Protestants of Nyons seized the village. During the Revolution, the commune becomes Romain-sur-Lauzon, named after the river that crosses it. Cross this village, which follows the route of the old wall, tightened around its 16th century castle and its parish church Saint-Romain which gave its name to the village; it was rebuilt in the middle of the 19th century.
