The village is on a rocky spur at an altitude of 500 m, which gives it the appearance of an eagle's nest above the town of Apt. From ancient times, the rock of Saignon was used as an observatory and was certainly used for the emission of signals: from signum came the name Sagnio and then Saignon. Take a look at the Rhone Valley, the Alpilles and the Cévennes! The village was crowned by 3 castles: the Rocher Majeur, the Méjean castle and the Grigière castle. With hushed footsteps, in the caladées alleys, one crosses its place of the Fountain decorated with the statues of Agriculture and Abundance, its houses dated from the XIIth to the XVIIIth century.
