In 1274, Sablet became the property of the Holy See, but was never annexed. In 1721, the plague spared the village and a chapel was built for Saint-Roch. In the mid-19th century, when phylloxera ravaged the vineyards, winegrowers rebuilt the vineyard thanks to François Leydier, who invented the grafting machine. Thanks to his grafting machine, Sablet produces a famous Côtes-du-Rhône. The spiral-shaped village will reveal its charms and secrets if you enter on foot. Its little squares, alleyways, old stones, fountain and washhouse will guide you to the 12th-century church, the starting point of this magnificent urban architecture.
