Situated between the Mont Ventoux and the Vaucluse plateau, Mormoiron is a small village full of charm, a stone's throw from the Gorges de la Nesque. Here is another village where you can find ochre. It is less impressive than in Rustrel or Roussillon, but the facades of the houses in height are also colourful and one can make a nice walk in the small ochre quarries which have remained quite wild. The departure is at the Lac des Sablettes. Remember to visit its archaeological and paleontological museum which will transport you from 600 million years ago to our era to discover the history of mankind through fossils and remains of man
