A former collegiate church, whose austere façade in pure Jesuit style contrasts with its rich Baroque interior.

This former 13th century collegiate church was rebuilt in the 17th century according to the plans of François de la Valfenière, an architect who left his mark on Avignon with his Roman-inspired style. The rather austere façade in pure Jesuit style contrasts with the vast and luminous nave which houses an extraordinarily rich baroque decor. During the revolution, some of the works seized from the convents were relegated there. Everything is cherubs, bas-reliefs and gilded trompe l'oeil statues.

L'Eglise Notre-Dame-Des-Anges 84800 L'Isle-Sur-La-Sorgue
L’Église Notre-Dame-des-Anges est située à l'Isle-Sur-La-Sorgue, près de l'Office de Tourisme. C'est une église d'architecture baroque depuis sa rénovation au XVII ème siècle, belle extérieurement avec ses gargouilles expressives et son clocher carré, et magnifique intérieurement avec un retable grandiose de quinze mètre de haut habillant tout le cœur et deux cent vingt-deux figures d'anges pour accompagner Marie au ciel. Mais s'admirent aussi de nombreuses chapelles ayant chacune leur panonceau explicatif et de très beaux tableaux ainsi que des statues, décors muraux, boiseries sculptées. Les couleurs peuvent surprendre mais elles donnent un cachet particulier aux décorations intérieures. Les nombreux angelots sont très beaux, J'ai beaucoup apprécié cette visite.
