This village located on the Albion plateau is the highest in the department (1,100 m) and one of the least populated - 36 inhabitants at the last census. Its highest point at 1,256 m (signal Saint-Pierre) is the highest peak in the Vaucluse mountains. Essentially agricultural, Lagarde is the domain of wide open spaces: vast lavender fields, incomparable beech woods, under the purest sky in Europe. The Sirene Astronomical Observatory installed on this site offers an extended view as far as the Alps. There is also a viewpoint from the Lamaron Chapel (11th century, restored in 2003), a place of pilgrimage that was once very popular throughout the region
