The hamlet is famous for its château, occupied by the sulphurous Marquis de Sade. It's in a state of disrepair, but has retained its medieval allure, transporting us back to another time. Facing Catholic Bonnieux, Protestant Lacoste was once a stronghold of the Vaudois, who took refuge here in the 15th century. From this past, Lacoste still preserves its temple, which today houses the town hall. The church dates from the 15th and 16th centuries. The steep streets of Frescado and Sainte-Trophime lead to one of the village's jewels: the belfry, beautifully topped by a bell tower. In 2000, the château was purchased by fashion designer and patron of the arts Pierre Cardin.
