To the very north of the Enclave of the Popes, at the top of its rocky peak, stands Grillon. Its strategic position made it known for its glory and abandonment. Its medieval remains remind us that it was for a long time a privileged surveillance post. The panoramic view lets you imagine the conquests that the city has witnessed. The organisation of the Vialle district remained feudal. The castle, built in the 12th century was protected by ramparts within which the village developed. The building of the new church in 1869, the construction of the railway station in 1896 and the school in 1900 could not stop the inexorable decline of the Vialle
