Situated on a ridge, at the extreme north of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain range, Le Crestet is aptly named. Moreover, the small road that leads there meanders languorously in the meadows, mountain atmosphere, it is really bucolic. Around its Saint-Sauveur church dating from the 11th century, Renaissance houses are huddled together. Its medieval castle, now privately owned, has recently been raised from its ruins. Formerly the residence of the bishops of Vaison-la-Romaine, it was used as a refuge during conflicts with the counts of Toulouse. To linger in this peaceful hilltop village, leave your car in the castle car park
