The history of this medieval city is rooted in the Neolithic period. People like to tell that it is the oldest peasant village in Europe and that it belongs to the Mediterranean civilization of stone (6000 BC). Its 12th century ramparts still impose some and hide a heritage of churches and fifteen fountains. A small river, the Seille, crosses the city while the Ouvèze partly borders the town. The church Saint-Denis of Romanesque style would go back to Charlemagne, inside discover magnificent classified organs. Walk up to the town hall, a former 19th century castle.
