The village is located on the eastern slope of the hill separating the plain of the Rhône from that of Comtat Venaissin. Built above its ramparts, Châteauneuf de Gadagne is still protected by the remains of its feudal castle. Its old ramparts still remain and are widely visible from the belvedere in front of the church of Saint Jean Baptiste. As you walk you will come across well renovated houses, several old gates such as the one located near the Tour du Jas built in the 14th century, a fountain named after the patron of the village, Marie Pierre d'Alcantra Goujon who had bequeathed her castle in which the Felibrige movement was born
