It is the gateway to the Luberon Regional Natural Park. The town is nestled at the foot of a cliff but it is surrounded by an agricultural plain where the famous melon grows, which has made its reputation. Don't miss the big festival that takes place in July. We follow the courtyards where we discover pretty houses with arches. Today, the Cours Gambetta is the most popular. Cavaillon was in the past, the chief town of the Cavares, living on the Saint-Jacques hill overlooking the city. From 40 BC, it became a Roman colony, then an episcopal see from the 4th century, to finally pass into the hands of the Holy See.
