A dry stone village with the charm and calm of a Provencal village, with narrow streets, fountains and wash houses. You are only 5 km from the hustle and bustle of Gordes. In the heart of the village is the castle. It is private, but you can go around it to admire its feudal enclosure, its listed ramparts and its mullioned windows. Built in the 12th century by the Viscount of Cavaillon, the building was rebuilt in Renaissance style at the end of the 16th century, and was later used for sericulture. A stele recalls the sacking of Cabrières on April 19 and 20, 1545, when the Vaudois cabriérois, entrenched in the castle, were massacred.
