Travel Guide Beaumont-Du-Ventoux

No fewer than nine hamlets crossed by the Rieufroid make up this mountain village. It leads you to the summit of the Ventoux (but not to the Serein mountain, the ski resort which is part of the town; You need to go down Vaux and borrow the D 974). The landscape is splendid. In season, cherries are plentiful. The Romanesque chapels of Beaumont all have a history. In the middle of vineyards and fruit trees, St. Roch Chapel (hamlet La Tuilière) reminds us that Beaumont was spared by the plague epidemic of 1628. The statuette of St. Roch and his faithful dog companion evokes the episode where, with plague and isolated in the mountain, a dog brought her bread every day. From there, was born the alias of "small roquet". The chapel of Saint-Sepulchre (hamlet of the Valettes), nestled in a green setting, is classified by historical monuments. Built in the th century and attached to the abbey of Saint-Victor in Marseille, its architecture is very sophisticated. The balance of proportions and special attention to detail give it charm and elegance. Nearby are the Roman quarries, which are used for the construction of Vaison. The Romanesque chapel Saint Marguerite marks the entrance of the hamlet to which it gave its name. As with Saint-Sepulchre, the stone used comes from neighboring limestone quarries. Saint Marguerite is invoked to relieve the pain of childbirth, but also against the fury of storms and floods. Even today, the bell is ringing when the storm tempers. Finally, Saint-Sidoine Chapel (th). Surrounded by its mountain scenery, its access from the Hameau hamlet is not easy. And yet the faithful go there every year in July when the mass restored life to the site which used to host, once, bergères and shepherds surprised by the storm.
