Enjoy a guided tour of Apt and its old town, and discover the secrets of its Roman remains...

Dating back to medieval times, the old town was built on Roman ruins and is organized around the main thoroughfare, the Rue des Marchands, the ancient Via Domitia. The remains of a Roman theater have been found. The Tour de l'Horloge (Clock Tower) was built in the 16th century on a Provençal Gothic double-arched vault. The Place de la Bouquerie comes alive on Saturday mornings, market day. And then there are the squares lined with 16th- and 18th-century mansions, such as the Septier square with its hollow plane tree, which bear witness to periods of opulence.
