When to go to Toulon? The two best periods to discover this city and more generally the Var are either spring or autumn, which corresponds to the low tourist season. Hotel and restaurant rates are then more affordable than in summer and the beaches are almost deserted. As for the climate, it is ideal, warm, but not too hot, and you can often swim from spring to the end of November. Winter is the very low tourist season, but the climate remains mild with the possibility of many hikes under the sun. The high tourist season is of course summer, in July and August, the roads are crowded and the fares are easily tripled. It is then really necessary to book your stay well in advance. The Var is, in fact, one of the most touristic regions in France and it is not only appreciated by the French, but also by a very large number of foreign tourists. However, if you choose to stay in the Var in summer, it is the right time for outdoor festivals. You can plan your visit during the high points that thrill the city, but plan ahead. In November, there is the highly specialized Festival International des Musiques d'Écran, in March, Bacchus, the Wine and Food Festival, in April, Mang'Azur, the festival of Japanese culture, in July, the jazz festival in Toulon..
The climate is Mediterranean in Toulon. Winter is mild and sunny with temperatures averaging 15°C and moderate rainfall, sometimes the mountains in the hinterland are covered with snow. In summer, the heat can be scorching in Toulon with temperatures reaching 35°C in August during the high tourist season. In spring, nature is in bloom and the weather is pleasant. In autumn, the weather is mild and the landscapes are colorful. These quieter periods are therefore very popular.
