This very pretty little village is situated at an altitude of 686 metres, in the heart of the Sainte-Baume massif. Its Romanesque church was built in the 11th century as a place of worship following the destruction of a monastery by the Saracens. The original dirt floor was used as a cemetery until the 18th century. The grotto of Mary Magdalene, open in the cliff, served as a refuge for the saint who withdrew there to end her days in prayer. From the ridge, you can admire a magnificent panorama, from the borders of the southern Alps to the sea. Around the village, the age-old forest of the Sainte-Baume, of a majestic beauty, deserves a thorough visit.
