The origin of this site, occupied from antiquity, remains a mystery. Or it comes from a Roman called Nolis, which became in Provençal Noulas, then Nelos, before taking the name of Néoules, that is, the new land, or it is in relation to the abundance of the walnut, observation represented by three golden nuts on the background of the commune. The village, in the course of history, was part of the Signs Seigneury in the year 1200, and then was governed by several lords in the sixteenth century, the Reybiol and the Blancart, as well as by the Bishop of Marseille, and then will go to the hands of the Alard of Brignoles. A castle was built in 1750 by Lord Blancart. In 1907, at the wine Growers'revolt in France, Néoules was Head of the movement in Var, with the creation of the first wine-growing defence committee. The movement will collapse after Marcellin Albert's interview with President Clemenceau, but will allow the néoulais winemakers to create the second cooperative cellar in the department in 1908.The village, nestled in a landscape of green hills and vineyards, is nestled in the Verrerie plateau. There is a preserved haven in which abundant fauna and flora thrive. Its numerous hiking trails wind at the foot of one of the most beautiful Mediterranean bars from which you can contemplate the peninsula of Giens and the Islands of Hyères. The ruins of Saint-Thomé, the Renaissance Castle, the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church, Châteauloin, the caves and the grave of the planted Stone are all unique places to visit, reflecting the rich heritage of this municipality.
