The village, originally called Moxiaco in 1052, then Moisac in 1110, was successively ruled by the lordships of the Blacas, Castellane and Coriolis. In 1201, the lord of Aups, Blacas, donated his share, located in Moissac, to the Templars. In the 13th century, the lord of Baudinard, Guillaume de Moissac, also offered his property to the Templars and joined the order. A commandery was then set up. This picturesque village, spread out in an arc on a promontory at an altitude of nearly 600 meters, is made up of old houses vaulted on the first floor, narrow sloping streets, arched passages.
