To discover the heart of the city, just follow the Boulevard de la République to the Place Clemenceau where stands the famous fountain of the Walnut, dedicated to Louis II, Count of Provence, King of Naples, who allowed Lorgues to become a free city. In the Middle Ages, Lorgues was a place of passage for pilgrims on the road to Compostela. The ramparts have disappeared with the exception of two gates, the Saracen gate, to the east, and the Trébari gate, to the southwest. The old village is definitely worth a look if you happen to be in Lorgues. Historical heritage and Provencal charm, the assets are not lacking
