CHAPEL OF OUR LADY OF CONSOLATION
This building, built between 1952 and 1955, was built on the site of an old sanctuary dedicated to Notre Dame, which had been destroyed in 1944, during the Provence landings. It was here that the Hyerian architect Raymond Vaillant, accompanied by the Polish sculptor Jean Lambert-Rucki, worked to restore, this time in a resolutely modern style, a place of worship and prayer. Inside, the whole remains sober, which leaves a particularly important place to the light brought by the work created by the master glassmaker Gabriel Loire, made of coloured glass slabs, retracing the history of the sanctuary from Saint-Louis. The architectural style contrasts with the religious buildings that can be seen widely in the region. Sacred art has found an opportunity for new and contemporary expression.
