Lavoine benefits from natural assets: the puy de Montoncel, culminating in the department of the Allier with its 1 287 m, Black Woods with their mixture of beech, coniferous and bog, or the site of Saint Vincent rock, a rocky promontory appreciated by climbing fans (no less than 183 open lanes) and last bourbonnais refuge of the Grand Crow. Its history is rich and high in colour thanks to its inhabitants (famous Pawns) with a rather lively and undisciplined character, which attracted them more than once the wrath of the authorities, regardless of the regime in place. The "muscular" reception they extended to tax collectors and gendarmes, as well as their massive refusal of conscription, left a vivid memory in local collective memory.
