The northernmost village in the valley is built on the banks of the Gapeau, at the foot of the aiguilles de Valbelle. Surrounded by hills planted with olive trees, pines and oaks, it exudes all the charm of a small Provencal village, animated every Monday morning by a modest farmers' market. In the centre of the village, the church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, built in 1686, has a dome in the Italian Renaissance style as well as a fresco on its chevet, which relates the passage of Louis XIV and his court on a pilgrimage to Notre-Dame-des-Grâces de Cotignac in 1660. For the anecdote, Mathieu Teisseire, founder of the eponymous syrup, was born in Belgentier in 1688.
