La Grave (428 inhabitants) is located at an altitude of 1,135 m, in the heart of the Écrins National Park. The village has managed to preserve its traditional aspect despite the important tourist pressure linked to the presence of the cable car of the Meije glaciers, whose station is located south of the village. The Meije massif (La Grave-La Meije station) is known as a Mecca for mountaineering and a major site for off-piste skiing. To see: the beautiful Romanesque church Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption (11th century). Around the village, several preserved traditional hamlets are worth visiting, such as Le Chazelet, which has a beautiful oratory and an orientation table.
