In the heart of the Queyras, Aiguilles probably owes its name to the proximity of the Guil - ad Guillum, "near the Guil". This small mountain village has not been spared by natural disasters: after several serious floods, there were several fires, one of which was so terrible in 1829 that it pushed many inhabitants to emigrate to South America. This is why we can see, as in Barcelonnette, magnificent middle-class houses built by these emigrants, some of whom made their fortune in South America. We can't leave Aiguilles without seeing the Eiffel house, due to the famous engineer. Many activities around.
