13 km west of Aix, Ventabren is perched on its steep rock. Staircase lanes, old houses huddled together, Queen Jeanne's castle, old wash houses, windmill, oil mill, bories, bread oven, and an old ice house make this charming inhabited village a very pleasant place to visit. Don't forget to take a look at the village church and then go to the Roquefavour aqueduct, which is worth a visit to admire its 84 m height: a real masterpiece inaugurated after six years of work on 19 December 1847, to supply the city of Marseille with water from the Arc valley which it crosses.
