It's a brandnew museum that reopened its doors two years ago. It's done in order to restore the beauty of this beautiful hotel of the 18th century, which owes its name to a master rope-maker of Marseille. Located not far from the city hall, the building now has a contemporary extension. The museum houses permanent and temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. It particularly exhibits the paintings and drawings of Albert Gleize but also the paintings of Lucien Lautrec, Eugène Leroy, Henri Manguin or Léon Zack. The museum also shelters the Van Gogh interpretation centre that traces the life and work of the artist in a modern way (projection, digital media).
