Meyreuil keeps the memory of the battle of General Marius against the Ambrons and the Teutons which saw the defeat of the barbarians and the development of these hillsides not far from Aquae Sextiae. Later, Cézanne discovered in Meyreuil a new way of looking at the Sainte-Victoire and painted it at length, as well as the Trois Sautets bridge which spans the Arc and his famous Bathers.
