The Saint-Michel plan has a long history and remains today one of the most lively and beloved districts of Marseille

Overlooking the lower city, the Saint-Michel plan (Julien, Plaine, Notre-Dame-du-Mont) has a long history and remains one of the most lively and loved parts of Marseille today. The central market, before its transfer to the Arnavaux, was once at the bottom of the Julian course in Place Notre-Dame-du-Mont. From the middle of the night, garners and resellers were flowing from all over the town. Warehouses, some of which still exist, were able to store the food. The «fans», in the bright verb, ensured the market's animation, which was still very present in the memory of the Marseillais who knew him. Today, the Julien course is a young and lively neighborhood where you can enjoy a drink between friends, lunch on the terrace, dinner between colleagues and enjoy concerts in the various places of the surrounding streets. The festive atmosphere of the night sometimes swears with the Mediterranean calm of the days at Cours Julien. Between fara and vita, it is also the popular meeting of artists and creators at colorful boutiques, the detour of small animated alleys. A beautiful peasant market is held every Wednesday. Organic shops develop and musicians always improvise spontaneous concerts on the big square around the fountains. The Ju class is emblematic. The lovers of street art will love to walk there. The neighborhood is also famous for its music stores and music stores. In short, it is the artistic heart that beats!

Cours Julien
